High Summer Show and Poetry Event

Saturday 20th June from 1pm onwards

In times of trial and difficulty we look to artists and poets to show us the way and so, accordingly, alongside our High Summer Exhibition of artworks we present five performance poets to tell their tales of the Summer.

Laurence James, Simone Mansell Broome, Peter Read, Rona Campbell and John Bilsborough read from collections of their works in a summery sculpture garden amidst flowers and pollen heavy honeybees. Tea and cakes will refresh. We look forward to seeing you there.

High On The Downs

Grasses outgrowing their blades
Nod to the sky, kiss his hatbrim.

A honeybee powders its face for the dance
In a harmless Hammerfilm.

The alloy clop on the stud yard of valley fillies,
Another lunged against the north stand of spruce.

Like a Roman supine beside him,
The litre of Figaro red.

Opening Exhibition

On April the 4th we opened a new gallery on New Road Llandeilo. We intend to bring together artists who have previously shown in the Llandeilo area, who will be familiar, and also the work of artists who have never shown in the area before.

"Solo" Gillian Still

Works shown will include painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics and photography and the work will be refreshed every four to five weeks ensuring that there is always something new to see in the gallery. At the moment we have over 30 artists that will exhibit at the gallery enabling us to keep the work lively and fresh.

We bring to the space a wide range of experiences. Amelia Kilvington has shown her work in Wales and London over the last five years and have wide experience in the organisation of group exhibitions.

"Bird Man" Sarah Tombs

We will also be holding some literary events at the gallery including a poetry afternoon on the theme of ‘High Summer’ on Saturday 20th June from 1pm onwards. The event will feature five of the foremost poets working in Carmarthenshire performing excerpts from their most recent publications.

"The Refugee" Mark Goldsworthy

Collections of their works will be for sale at the gallery and there will be afternoon tea and cake. ‘Red in Tooth and Claw’ provides the theme for our Summer Group Exhibition on Saturday 22nd August.
