High Summer Show and Poetry Event

Saturday 20th June from 1pm onwards

In times of trial and difficulty we look to artists and poets to show us the way and so, accordingly, alongside our High Summer Exhibition of artworks we present five performance poets to tell their tales of the Summer.

Laurence James, Simone Mansell Broome, Peter Read, Rona Campbell and John Bilsborough read from collections of their works in a summery sculpture garden amidst flowers and pollen heavy honeybees. Tea and cakes will refresh. We look forward to seeing you there.

High On The Downs

Grasses outgrowing their blades
Nod to the sky, kiss his hatbrim.

A honeybee powders its face for the dance
In a harmless Hammerfilm.

The alloy clop on the stud yard of valley fillies,
Another lunged against the north stand of spruce.

Like a Roman supine beside him,
The litre of Figaro red.
